    Application

    Carbon tool steel is relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain, easy to forge and form, and has good machinability. The main disadvantage of carbon tool steel is poor hardenability, which needs to be quenched with water, salt water or alkaline water. It has a large tendency of distortion and cracking, and low wear resistance and thermal strength. Therefore, carbon tool steel can only be used to manufacture some small hand tools or woodworking tools, as well as small cold working dies with low accuracy requirements, simple shape, small size and light load, such as small punches, scissors, cold stamping dies, cold upsetting dies…etc.
